More to Love Part 2

I'd like to add to my comment about the new show More to Love...the news anchor last night introduced a segment about the show with the words "a show that gives super size a whole new meaning".
Are you freaking kidding me!?!?!?!

He went on to describe how remarkable the bachelor was - the one looking for a 'real woman'. The way it was said gave the impression that this guy was remarkably sweet b/c he was able to love the unlovable fatties. Then Mr. Wonderful (the bachelor not the news guy) said something about how he doesn't like really skinny girls, and how brave the fatties were to come and deal with their fat/self-esteem issues on the show. Skinny girls, fat girls, in between girls, we all have self esteem issues at one time or another - and I'd venture to say a lot of that has to do with the media. No news flash there I'm sure.

The whole thing just pisses me off. Most of these reality dating shows degrade women - and men for that matter...or at the very least make both sexes look bad...women act like slutty bimbos and men act like oversexed dogs.

I'm tired of talking and obsessing about weight as a basis of whether or not you're pretty or attractive. It gets in the way of what really is important - being healthy. But it's hard to obtain the healthy part when you're overloaded with image crap.

Things & Stuff

1. The dudes on the Disney channel really need to get different hair cuts. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm4103641344/ch0029572 They all have this weird flat flippy do and it annoys me. The Disney channel is on at our house every other weekend when we have the boys which is how I know it annoys me.
   
2. I got $75 worth of free groceries from Kroger for opening a US Bank account today. I opened it w/ just 2 bucks. I think Steve is going down to open one too so we can get another $75 worth of free groceries.
   
3. I don't know how I feel about the new series "More to Love" using the term "real women" to describe women with a little extra cushion. I don't know why there has to be a big girls version of a dating show and I also would like to defend the skinny girls - you're still real women.
   
4. I've been in a funk for awhile now that I can't seem to shake. Part of it is just the normal cycle of my moods I think. Part of it is we've discussed for some time the idea of having a Baby Bugg. I don't think it's in the cards for us and I'm coming to terms with that - perhaps if we were younger it would be a more viable option. But we're not; there are other reasons too and there you have it. We have two kiddos that need our love and guidance and that's important.
   
5. I miss laughing my ass off with my girl friends. There have been a few instances in the last few weeks where I've been with friends and we've laughed and it felt good - but I wish it would happen more often.
   
6. Had a great time at the family reunion last weekend - pictures to follow soon.

Recap: Mini Stay-Cation

Stef was here this week. We were busy but relaxed. Cooking and Baking - Lasagna, Zucchini Bread, Peach Cobbler. Eating - Cheesecake Factory, Pancake Pantry, Rotiers for burgers. Hiking - Fall Creek Falls State Park. Pampering - massages and pedicures/manicures. Napping and a tiny bit of shopping. Perfect week.

Guns n Bars

Preface: I used to be a gun owner - and if that's your thing then go on with ya bad self as I feel most of the legal gun carrying public abide by the laws (although I'm iffy on the need to own assault rifles - just don't get it). Back to the point of this post...

Quick and Dirty summary: It's now legal to bring a gun into a bar in Nashville. Scary right? I mean I can see this going bad in so many ways.

Well see they've added a few stipulations that make it safe.

1. You have to have a permit
2. You can't be drinking alcohol if you carry

Phew! That makes me feel so much better!


The one thing that does actually make me feel better is the fact that establishments can ban guns if they so choose.

I know that with or without a law people will do what they want in so far as - if a crazy wants to bring a gun with them into a bar or anywhere else and shoot people up they don't really care about having a permit or what the law says - but it just makes me a little uneasy knowing that it's been given the green light - I don't know how they expect to control it.

Are they going to mark a big red X on the gun holders when they walk in the bar so the bartender knows not to serve them? Is everyone going to be patted down upon entry and permits checked along with ID? Or are we just going to hope everyone is honest and that the gun totin' folks will guard and protect us.

Completely Random Stuff

I like to wear stripes - the horizontal kind - and I don't care if they aren't very flattering.

I had a dream the other night that I had to dance in my bathing suit in front of my co-workers in a huge gymnasium and I could see my thighs jiggle as we stomped and danced. At first I was nervous but as it went on I just owned the jiggle and danced my a** off.

This morning I had a dream I was backstage at a GnR concert and I met Axl - he was on crutches and had maroonish red hair and I shook his hand and told him it was nice to meet him. Duff was there too in all his '80's hair band glory - with long hair, bandana and super white teeth.

Busy couple of weeks coming up to end July - boys will be with us for two weeks, family and friends visiting and a family reunion at the end of the month.
